Bombardier Flexity Swift E-Class #6019
5 february 2020 - Melbourne, Normanby Road. Bombardier na linii 96 wyjeżdża z dawnej linii kolejowej St. Kilkda Railway Line, zaś widoczny w tle Comeng z Port Melbourne Railway Line. Obie trasy zostały w latach 80. konwertowane z kolejowych na tramwajowe, zaś dawna kolejowa przeprawa Sandridge Bridge została udostępniona pieszym i stanowi najszybsze dojście z dworca kolejowego Flinders Street do biurowców zbudowanych na południowym brzegu rzeki Yarra.

Wikipedia podpowiada że produkcja tramwaju typu W Class zaczęła sie w 1923r. i zakończyła się w 1956. Tramwaje te masowo jeździły na ulicach miasta do 1992r. w ilości 200 sztuk. Z 752 wyprodukowanych tramwajów tego typu aż 230 zostało zachowanych, w tym 165 jest przechowywane, 27 jest nieużywane ale gotowe do liniowej obsługi oraz 12 w codziennej eksploatacji na turystycznej linii 35.

Z praktycznych obserwacji wynika, że sporym ułatwieniem byłyby zmiany programów sygnalizacji z obecnych stałoczasowych i nadanie tramwajom realnego priorytetu.
